Discord sellers have three ways to get paid, and each one comes with its own catch. Discord's built-in Server Subscriptions are limited to US-based owners and keep 10% of every sale. Payment bots such as Whop and LaunchPass layer their own fees on top of Stripe. A payment gateway you connect yourself can take cards and crypto and pay out to your own wallet. This comparison explains how each route works in 2026, then compares three options for anyone choosing a payment gateway for Discord sellers on fees, signup requirements and how they plug into a Discord server.
Quick answer: For Discord sellers who want card and crypto checkout without a Stripe account, PayMeGate comes first in this comparison. It charges 1% plus the provider fee, supports Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay from a $1 minimum on card, and pays card sales out as USDC to your wallet. Merchant signup asks for no ID or business-document uploads, but customers may still face checks depending on how they pay. OxaPay suits crypto-only stores with its Discord bot guides, and BTCPay Server is the free self-hosted option for Bitcoin.

| 3 | BTCPay Server | Self-hosted Bitcoin payments | 0% software fees (you pay hosting and network fees) | Bitcoin on-chain and Lightning, some altcoins | Webhooks and API; no official Discord bot |
Monetizing your Discord: how payments work in 2026
Discord isn't a payment processor for most sellers, and outside its own monetization program there's no native checkout for general server sales. There are three ways to take money from a Discord community:
- Discord's native monetization. Server Subscriptions and server products from Discord Inc. let eligible owners sell roles, perks and content inside Discord. Discord takes 10% and the owner keeps 90%, before payment processing fees, according to Discord's creator documentation. Eligibility is restricted: the owner must be based in the United States, provide US banking information and identification to Stripe, and keep the server in good standing.
- Discord payment bots. Services such as Whop, LaunchPass, Subscord and Upgrade.chat sell memberships off-platform and then grant a role automatically. Most of them run on your Stripe account or their own merchant account, and they charge a platform fee or monthly cost on top.
- A payment gateway you connect yourself. You post payment links in specific channels or DMs, or your own Discord bot creates orders through the gateway's API and assigns roles when payment is confirmed. This is where the gateways in this guide fit.
What Discord payment bots cost
Subscord publishes a comparison of what each Discord payment bot costs for the same community. It lists Whop at 3% plus payout fees, LaunchPass at $29 a month plus 3.5%, Upgrade.chat at $49 a month, and its own plans up to $65 a month with no sales fee. Subscord's crypto payments carry a 0.5% fee from its crypto provider. These are Subscord's figures for competing platforms, not checked on each vendor's own pricing page, and every card payment still carries Stripe's processing fees.
| Route | Platform fee | Who holds the merchant account | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discord Server Subscriptions | 10% + processing | Discord, with Stripe payouts | US-based owners selling roles and perks |
| Whop | 3% + payout fees (Subscord's figure) | Whop | Creators who want a marketplace |
| LaunchPass | $29/month + 3.5% (Subscord's figure) | Your Stripe account | Paid communities with Stripe approval |
| Subscord | 0% sales fee; monthly plans up to $65 | Your Stripe account or crypto wallet | Owners who already have Stripe or take crypto |
| A payment gateway + your bot | The gateway's transaction fee | The gateway's providers | Sellers without Stripe, or selling worldwide |
What a Discord payment bot actually does
A Discord payment bot connects your community to a payment processor and automates the busywork. The typical features are:
- Role automation: the bot grants a paid role when a payment succeeds and revokes it when a subscription lapses or is refunded.
- Recurring billing and one-time payments: monthly or yearly memberships, tiered membership levels and one-off digital goods.
- Free trials: many bots let you offer trial access to new users, then convert them to paid members.
- Hosted checkout links: secure checkout pages you can share in specific channels or DMs, so card data never touches your server.
- A dashboard to manage payments: subscriber lists, billing history, data exports and premium features such as discount codes.
Security features vary by platform. Most rely on their card processor's PCI compliance and encryption. Some add two-factor authentication, fraud detection or link scanning. Subscord, for example, says it never holds your funds.
Each discord payment bot charges differently, which is why the monthly cost matters as your revenue grows. XOE's own comparison says it charges 5% on crypto payments with no monthly fee. PayBot builds the checkout on your own Stripe account and grants the Discord role after each payment. Subscord says it supports 100+ cryptocurrencies, forwarded to your wallet after its 0.5% fee. Stripe itself charges 2.9% plus $0.30 for a standard US card payment, on top of any bot or platform fee.
The advantage of a payment bot is convenience. The main benefit of a payment gateway is control over which payment methods you accept and where the money lands. Many sellers use both: the bot to manage roles, and the gateway to accept payments.
What you can and can't sell on Discord
Discord's Dangerous and Regulated Goods policy bans buying, selling or trading regulated goods, including firearms, explosives, tactical gear, illicit drugs, marijuana, alcohol and tobacco. Its Community Guidelines also ban selling spam tools, raid tools, account generators, artificial member boosts and game cheats. A payment gateway doesn't change any of this. If Discord removes your server, the payment setup goes with it.
What a payment gateway does for a Discord seller
A Discord payment bot manages access: it watches for a paid subscription and gives the buyer a role in your server. A payment gateway handles the money: it shows the checkout, takes the card or crypto payment, and sends the funds to you. Many sellers combine the two, or build a small bot that calls the gateway directly.
Four things matter more for Discord sellers than for a typical online store:
- No website required. Payment links let you sell from a channel, a pinned message or a DM.
- Digital goods and access. Most Discord sales are roles, subscriptions, files, coaching or one-time purchases of digital goods. Fast confirmation matters more than shipping integrations.
- Global buyers. Discord communities are international, so card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and crypto payments help more customers pay. Accepting more methods is the easiest way to expand revenue from the same community.
- Fees that scale. A percentage fee you barely notice at $100 a month becomes real money at $10,000. Low transaction fees save more as a community grows.
How we chose these gateways
We started from the no-KYC gateway candidates we track and kept the ones whose own pages we could verify today:
- Fees: published transaction fees, monthly fees and minimum order amounts.
- Signup requirements: what merchant signup asks for, and what checks customers may face.
- Payment methods: whether card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay are supported, or crypto only.
- Discord integration: a documented way to sell from a Discord server, whether payment links, an API or a bot workflow.
- Prohibited-business rules: what each provider's terms exclude.
NOWPayments and Paymento were left out because we couldn't verify a documented Discord integration on their own sites.
1. PayMeGate: best payment gateway for Discord sellers overall
PayMeGate is a payment gateway for merchants that traditional processors turn down. Customers pay by card, wallet or crypto, an independent provider verifies the payment, and a supported crypto payout settles to the wallet you configured, usually in about two minutes according to PayMeGate.
PayMeGate fees (checked 10 October 2026)
| Item | Fee or limit |
|---|---|
| Card gateway (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Maestro, Apple Pay, Google Pay) | 1% + provider fee |
| Crypto gateway (BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT, SOL and more) | 1% + network fee |
| Minimum order | $1 on the card gateway; $1 to $30 depending on the provider |
| Monthly fee, setup fee, rolling reserve | None |
| Card payouts | USDC to your wallet |
Provider and network fees are set by the underlying providers, not by PayMeGate. Crypto checkout is covered on the crypto payment gateway page. See the pricing page for current figures.
Key features
- Merchant signup without document uploads: signup asks for basic account and business information, but doesn't request identity or business-document uploads. PayMeGate's no-KYC payment gateway page explains what that does and doesn't cover.
- Card payments and wallets: Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Revolut and SEPA transfers, depending on the provider. See the FAQ.
- Payment links and API: share a checkout link in a Discord channel or DM, or use scoped API keys so your Discord bot can create orders, track confirmation and trigger role assignment.
- Branded checkout: you can claim a custom checkout URL.
- Wallet payouts: funds settle to the wallet you control, with no manual withdrawals.
Best for
Discord sellers outside the US, or anyone without a Stripe account, who want customers to pay by card or Apple Pay and be paid in crypto.
Things to consider
- Customer checks depend on the payment method. Some providers ask customers for instant ID verification by phone camera, and some allow smaller orders to skip it.
- Card payments funded through providers can still be refunded or disputed under each provider's rules.
- PayMeGate provides software only. Independent providers process the payments, and eligibility depends on acceptable-use rules, country, payment method and amount.
- There's no ready-made Discord bot. You post links or connect your own bot to the API.
2. OxaPay: best for crypto-only Discord stores
OxaPay is a crypto payment gateway with the clearest Discord documentation of the gateways we checked. Its docs walk through building a Discord bot on n8n and on Make. A Discord command creates an OxaPay invoice, the bot posts the payment link to a channel, a staff channel or the customer's DMs, and a webhook confirms payment so the workflow can deliver license keys, download links or private roles.
OxaPay fees (checked 10 October 2026)
| Service | Fee |
|---|---|
| Payment link or merchant invoice (API) | 1.5% per transaction |
| Donation link | 1.5% |
| White-label | 2% |
| Static address | 2% + fixed fee |
| Receiving to your OxaPay account | 1% |
| Negotiated rate | From 0.4%, depending on your business |
Key features
- Ready-to-copy Discord bot workflows for n8n and Make, including a downloadable Make blueprint.
- Webhook updates when a payment status changes.
- Payment links you can share in Discord, Telegram, email or chat without coding.
- Payouts and swaps through the same account.
Best for
Crypto-native Discord communities (trading groups, NFT and gaming servers) that want automated invoices and role delivery without writing much code.
Things to consider
- Crypto only: no card payments, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- OxaPay's terms say merchants must not be registered in the United States (including its territories), Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Crimea, Sudan, Syria, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Bolivia or any UN-sanctioned country.
- The terms prohibit using the services for any unlawful business.
3. BTCPay Server: best free, self-hosted option
BTCPay Server is free, open-source software. It describes itself as a self-hosted, non-custodial payment processor: payments go straight to your own wallet with no transaction fees, no subscription and no third party. You run it on your own server or use a shared host. It supports Bitcoin on-chain and over the Lightning Network, plus some altcoins.
BTCPay Server costs (checked 10 October 2026)
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Software and transaction fees | 0% |
| Hosting | Your own server or a third-party host |
| Network fees | Paid on-chain or over Lightning |
Key features
- Non-custodial: your private keys are never needed to receive payments.
- Webhooks and the Greenfield API, so a custom Discord bot can create invoices and react to paid-invoice events.
- No company sits in the middle to approve or freeze your account.
Best for
Technical Discord sellers who take Bitcoin or Lightning payments and want full control with no platform fee.
Things to consider
- There's no official Discord bot or plugin, so you build or host the integration yourself.
- No card payments. Your customers need a crypto wallet.
- You're responsible for uptime, updates and security, and for your own legal compliance.

| Transaction fee | 1% + provider or network fee | 1.5% (from 0.4% negotiated) | 0% |
| Monthly fee | None | None listed | None (hosting costs) |
| Minimum order | $1 to $30 by provider | Not listed on pricing page | None |
| Payout | USDC or crypto to your wallet | OxaPay balance or wallet | Your own wallet |
| Merchant signup documents | No ID or business-document uploads | Not stated on pages checked | None (self-hosted) |

Fees and settlement: what a $10 membership really costs
On a $10 monthly role, the platform fee alone ranges widely. Discord's native subscriptions keep $1 (10%) before processing. A 3% bot fee is $0.30 plus Stripe's card fees. PayMeGate's 1% is $0.10 plus the provider fee for the payment method. OxaPay's 1.5% is $0.15 plus network costs. BTCPay Server charges nothing, but you pay for hosting.
Settlement speed matters as much as the fee. With Stripe-based bots, money follows Stripe's payout schedule to a bank account. PayMeGate settles supported crypto to your wallet after payment confirmation. Timing depends on provider processing, customer steps and blockchain confirmations. On-chain crypto with OxaPay or BTCPay arrives once the network confirms it.
How to accept payments in your Discord server
- Decide what you sell: roles, subscriptions, one-time products, files or services. Check that it's allowed under Discord's policies.
- Create your gateway account and set a payout wallet. With PayMeGate, sign up and configure the wallet that receives USDC.
- Start with payment links. Post them in a #shop or #subscribe channel, or send them by DM. This works without any code.
- Automate with a bot when volume grows. Your Discord bot creates an order through the API, waits for confirmation, then assigns the role. The bot's own role must sit above the roles it manages in the server's role hierarchy, or Discord won't let it assign them.
- Track renewals. For monthly access, record each buyer's expiry date and remove the role when a payment lapses. A gateway doesn't run recurring billing on credit cards for you, so either send a fresh payment link each month or pair the gateway with a payment bot that manages subscriptions.
- Keep payment data secure. Store only what you need, such as order IDs and Discord user IDs, and never ask buyers to post card details in a channel.
- Write a refund and support policy, and pin it where buyers can see it. Your community will trust a server that explains how payments, refunds and support work.
For a similar setup on another chat platform, see PayMeGate's guide to payment gateways for Telegram sellers.
Risks and compliance for Discord sellers
- AML obligations stay with you. A gateway that asks for fewer merchant documents doesn't remove your own anti-money-laundering, consumer-protection or record-keeping duties.
- Card-network rules apply. Card payments go through providers that follow Visa and Mastercard rules, and those rules still ban illegal goods and services.
- Chargebacks: card buyers can dispute payments under provider rules. On-chain crypto is generally irreversible once confirmed, but you still owe customers refunds where the law or your own policy requires them.
- Sanctions: providers screen countries and wallets, and some gateways exclude whole jurisdictions (OxaPay excludes US-registered businesses).
- Tax: in the US, the IRS treats crypto as property, so crypto you receive for sales counts as income at its fair market value when received. Other countries have their own rules, so keep records of every payment.
- Platform risk: Discord can remove servers that break its Terms or Community Guidelines, whichever payment setup you use.
For sellers in categories card processors treat as high-risk, PayMeGate's high-risk payment gateway page explains how PayMeGate handles approval and reserves.
Frequently asked questions
Can you sell stuff on Discord?
Yes. Eligible US-based owners can sell subscriptions and products through Discord's own monetization tools. Anyone can use a third-party payment bot or gateway, as long as the goods aren't banned by Discord's policies.
How do people get paid on Discord?
Through Discord Server Subscriptions (US owners, paid out via Stripe), through payment bots like Whop or LaunchPass, or through a payment gateway that pays out to a bank account or crypto wallet. Some sellers also take payments on other platforms, such as a website or Patreon, and link access back to Discord.
Can you pay with PayPal on Discord?
Discord accepts cards and PayPal for its own purchases, such as Nitro. For your server sales, it depends on your gateway. PayMeGate lists PayPal among provider-supported methods.
Does Discord accept Venmo?
Not for its own purchases. Some sellers share Venmo handles informally, but there's no automation or buyer protection for digital sales that way.
Do you need to pay for a Discord server?
No. Creating and running a Discord server is free. Discord's monthly fees apply only to optional products such as Nitro and Server Boosts.
Does Discord have a monthly fee?
Not for basic use. Nitro is an optional paid subscription, and monetization features take a share of sales rather than a monthly fee.
Can you earn money with Discord bots?
Yes. Developers can sell Premium Apps through Discord, and server owners use payment bots to sell roles and access. Payment bots charge their own fees.
Is Whop Discord safe to use?
Whop is a large, established marketplace and payment bot. As with any platform, read its fees and payout terms, and check its seller rules for your category.
Is it legal to sell Discord accounts?
Selling accounts breaks Discord's Terms of Service, and Discord can terminate accounts that are sold or transferred.
What is the 13 rule on Discord?
You must be at least 13 to use Discord, or older where local law sets a higher age. Sellers should keep age-restricted products out of reach of minors.
How is crypto taxed?
In the US, crypto is treated as property. Crypto you receive as payment is income at its fair market value on the day you receive it, and selling it later can create a capital gain or loss.
Which payment gateway is good for Discord sellers?
PayMeGate if you want card, Apple Pay and Google Pay checkout with crypto payouts. OxaPay if you take only crypto and want ready-made Discord bot workflows. BTCPay Server if you want a free, self-hosted Bitcoin setup.
Final verdict
If you're a US-based owner and don't mind a 10% cut, Discord's native subscriptions are the simplest route, and payment bots make sense if you already have Stripe. Everyone else gets the most flexibility from PayMeGate. It takes cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay for 1% plus provider fees, settles to a wallet you control, and asks for no document uploads at merchant signup, though customer checks depend on the payment method. Crypto-only sellers should look at OxaPay's Discord workflows, and technical Bitcoin sellers at BTCPay Server's zero-fee setup.
